What Is The Last Score You Listened To? (older scores)
Marian Schedenig replied to Ollie's topic in General Discussion
The almost only Delerue album I own is The London Sessions Vol. 1. And I think there was not one track that didn't excite me. I later picked up Les rois maudits/Lancelot du lac from Quartet, and it was nice, but didn't grab my attention much. I still want to explore more of his music, but never know where to start, especially because most of his score releases seem to be long out of print. (I keep forgetting that I also have a few Delerue tracks on the Amazing Stories albums, which I never listen to) -
What Is The Last Film You Watched? (Older Films)
Marian Schedenig replied to Mr. Breathmask's topic in General Discussion
I saw Dunkirk at the IMAX. I've had the Blu for years, but I haven't watched it yet, because it's really designed as a merciless audiovisual assault, which means I have to watch it during the day if I don't want to have the neighbours call the police because of the noise. -
1989 best score clash: Batman vs The Last Crusade
Marian Schedenig replied to Fabulin's topic in General Discussion
Possibly. Certainly the score - Forever, I'm not familiar with Goldenthal's second. On the other hand, Elfman's second Batman score never did anything for me. No. I'm not big on Elfman in general, but Batman is one of his best (of those I'm familiar with). The theme is catchy and fits the film perfectly, and Elfman gets a lot of mileage out of it, even if (like most of his scores) all I remember in the end is lots of densely orchestrated not too different repetitions of the theme. But the theme itself is good, and that's just how the score as a whole sounds to me; with Spider-Man, that's what the theme itself sounds like to me. -

1989 best score clash: Batman vs The Last Crusade

Batman has an iconic theme. Perhaps the score is at the top of whatever league it is in, but even if it were to ascend to the next league, it still wouldn't be in the same one as TLC. -
Best single in-film statement of every major Star Wars theme?

The Imperial March: Honorable mentions: (the variations throughout) Best spotting: (0:47 & 1:21 - perhaps the best spotted moments in all of film history) -

Jerry Goldsmith - City Hall (2023 Varese Deluxe Edition)
Marian Schedenig replied to Faleel's topic in General Discussion
Careful with that album, it may be disintegrating, along with Presumed Innocent. I checked by discs, the Williams looks fine, but the Goldsmith has a notable spot (hard to see, only visible if I shine a torch on it). I've got both of them FLACed anyway. -

The "(Fill in the Blank) Has Died" Thread
Marian Schedenig replied to John's topic in General Discussion
That bit of trivia is mis-quoted, mis-researched, and mis-calculated all over the internet. I've everything from "Titanic won an Oscar and the Lord of the Rings films won a total of 11 Oscars" to "throughout his career, Hill won a total of 11 Oscars". Still, in the spirit of your original comment, having acted in both of the only 11 Oscar winning films of our lifetime is a nice entry in any portfolio. -
The "(Fill in the Blank) Has Died" Thread
Marian Schedenig replied to John's topic in General Discussion
Hill was the only actor (so far) to star in two films that received 11 Oscars. -
Plenty I suppose. It's their standard source of income (along with ticket sales and plenty of official grants, I'm sure), and that pays for the house, the organisation, and the choir, among other things. I've been a member for the previous two Williams concerts. Wouldn't have been necessary the first time (because those two concerts took a long time to sell out), but the initial tickets for Vienna II were gone within a few hours. More opened up later, but if you want to make sure you get a good seat, you should probably pay the fee and have two separate browsers open when tickets go on sale. I'll probably queue at the ticket office. First time I was there hours before, and it wasn't until 7 some more people showed up. Second time I got there around 7 and found a few people already queueing.
