Certainly JW channeling the same elegiac style of writing. Fantastic connection, @crumbs! Interesting, listening to this track with fresh ears I'm thinking the first 0:42 is actually an alternate of the cue I posted on the previous page! Same elegiac style but more optimistic, same long fade-out, roughly the same duration. The crossfade at 0:42 sounds artificial too. The actual Eclipse music (as used in the film) is 0:42-1:28, and I don't recall the first 0:42 anywhere in the film (so it was either dialed out or is a separate short cue). The cue I posted on the previous page follows the Eclipse cue in the film, so this might just be some of JW's 'creative' OST assembling when it comes to short cues. Anyway, just an interesting connection! EDIT: GEMA seemingly confirms this track is comprised of 3 cues:
Popular Post BrotherSound 2,242
I remain stunned by what a mess the production of this film was. The Art of The Rise of Skywalker book has some interesting tidbits: unless it's a mistake—or even less likely, that there was another unseen scene with Poe, Finn, and Klaud in the Falcon—the lightspeed skipping scene must have been cut when the book was written. I wonder if the scene being deleted at some point could have had anything to do with the decision to leave what seems (to me, at least) a clear highlight of the score off the album. Also, the scene with the "Oracle" was actually cut at one point prior to filming—with the creature crew stopping work on one of the most elaborate and expensive puppets ever constructed—only to be reinstated, filmed, and ultimately cut again! Popular Post Oozer 25
The lightspeed skipping scene being left out of the edit at some point might be corroborated by the leaks. The very first comprehensive leak of the storyline for the film did not include the lightspeed skipping scene. Here's how it introduces Finn and Poe: Quote Apparently we catch up with Finn and Poe returning to the jungle planet depicted in some of the behind the scenes images shown at Celebration. The duo has been in contact with an informant from within the First Order. The mole has told Finn and Poe about Kylo coming into possession of the "wayfinder". This was August 30th, 2019. By the time that same leaker posted an updated summary on September 17th, the asteroid base/lightspeed skipping scene was included. Also possibly of note, there was no footage of the sequence released until the final trailer in October. Neither the teaser from April nor the D23 "special look" from late August included anything from it. Holko, TSMefford and BrotherSound 1
Popular Post WampaRat 1,105
The Art of Rise of Skywalker Book Itself was mess, delayed by 5 months because they were still cutting the film. (I was so ticked to not get it around Christmas like the other two lol) And I’m sure there was a LOT more revealing info about earlier cuts and concepts. All of which were arguably better than the final product. Man. Just mind boggling how they botched the “conclusion” to one of the most beloved film franchises. I wish it were possible, but it's only a trumpet part, and while there's enough detail to determine the cue continues for a bit longer, there's not enough to make out the exact notes: The trumpet enters with the redeemed Kylo/Ben motif three lines from the bottom of the first page, as heard at 1:19 in the track. If this part matched the track, it should end at the bottom of the first page, but it continues for another 3 lines on the next page.

The November 11th cut seems to have opened with Kylo's arrival at Exegol, dispensing with both the Mustafar and hyperspace trip scenes entirely, so it offers no clues. The numbering of 6M13 Rey's Trip to P—wherein she makes her own Journey to Exegol—suggests there was very likely an earlier version, since the scene should have originally been part of reel 7, so that's a possibility as well. Also really puzzled by why a cue titled 'Ready To Be A Jedi' would have such prominent use of Kylo's theme. 🤨

It's possible all the ships hadn't risen into the Exogolian atmosphere (to sit around for weeks doing nothing until the Resistance turns up) in the original Rey Arrival at Exogol sequence (when it was in reel 7). The entire sequence is essentially CGI anyway, easy enough change for some overworked, exhausted ILM employee receiving their 284th change request from JJ. Holko 9,526
TPM is probably a week or so. AotC and RotS have unfdefined breaks and possible skips, they could be weeks or a month+. SW is a couple days, depending on how long hyperspace travel takes. ESB is a week or two on H&L's storyline, feels like it should be at least a month where Luke's concerned. TFA is a day (no real time skips, they say all the arriving on starkiller, travelling, finding Rey, blowing it up takes place in 20 minutes in-universe), TLJ is 2 days or so (one's Escape, then after the hyperspace jump they say they have 18 hours of fuel left, no real skip for Crait), TROS explicitly says the fleet starts in 16 hours or something so all those planets and fucking around is under a day. crumbs
