The great concert under the stars for the city of Milan and for Italy has never stopped and in 2022 it returns with a legendary interpreter. As one of the best known composers in US history it is not difficult to remember John Williams like John Philip Sousa, Aaron Copland or Leonard Bernstein. The career of success and recognition includes a conspicuous list of awards including five Academy Awards, numerous gold and platinum records. With two Emmy wins, three Golden Globe wins, twenty-five Grammys, Williams is arguably one of the most respected film composers, author of iconic scores that have become famous thanks to titles such as Star Wars, Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park and many more. crumbs, Once, MaxTheHouseelf and 20 others 8 7 6 2

Popular Post Jay 45,320 Posted October 6, 2021 Author Popular Post Posted October 6, 2021 I was fully expecting him to do nothing but write and record Indiana Jones 5 in between Carnegie Hall (April 21) and that film's opening (July 29). A trip to Italy in June is shocking to me! I wonder if the main score will be done recording before he leaves, and then maybe a final pickup day will happen after the concert? Or if an announcement that IJ5 is being delayed is forthcoming? Chewy, Madmartigan JC and Will 3
JTGL 184 Posted October 6, 2021 Posted October 6, 2021 Oh no another concert in Europe.😅! The force is strong with him. But first Berlin next week! #exited apples 1

Timo Martikainen 128 Posted October 6, 2021 Posted October 6, 2021 Concerto per Milano has typically been an outdoor event but this one seems to be in Teatro alla Scala. Annual event has been having even 50 000 person audiences so I wouldn't be surprised if the location isn't correct (hall has only 2000 person capacity).
crlbrg 382 Posted October 6, 2021 Posted October 6, 2021 This guy insists on doing even more as he gets older! What an inspiration. I'll do my best to be there - my only wish would be that there's some of his concert works included in the programme, but the fact that this is even happening is already amazing.
QuartalHarmony 969 Posted October 6, 2021 Posted October 6, 2021 He’s really ticking off those bucket-list conducting venues/orchestras, isn’t he? LSO? Did it years ago, mate. Vienna Phil? Check. Berlin Phil? Check. What’s next on the list? La Scala? Don’t mind if I do: check. eitam 1
Miguel Andrade 1,706 Posted October 6, 2021 Posted October 6, 2021 I'll move mountains to be in Milan. Terrible time, work wise, but what the hell, I'll find a way to attend. Falstaft 1

Pawel P. 905 Posted October 6, 2021 Posted October 6, 2021 How amazing it is! There are some challenges ahead for me next year, but I'll do my best to be there. I hope this concert will also be filmed.
Thor 9,337 Posted October 6, 2021 Posted October 6, 2021 Wow, that came out of nowhere! Tempting, of course, but it all comes down to money and available time. He is indeed set to do Europe in the twilight of his years, as Mutter alluded to.
Popular Post Marian Schedenig 11,409 Posted October 6, 2021 Popular Post Posted October 6, 2021 I didn't know Maurizio had so much pull in the music business already. Joking aside, this is almost getting absurd. When I was at the airport queuing for my London flight in 2018 and the news came through that Williams had to cancel due to illness, I was almost certain I'd never get to see him live. Then I flew to Tanglewood to get my one (or so I thought) chance. Since then, we've had Vienna, and if all goes well I'll have seen him five times by the end of next week, with more opportunities already announced. At this point, I don't even feel like committing to this - if Williams really wants to return to Vienna, right before or after Milano wouldn't seem like a bad opportunity. And with everything else, London doesn't sound too unlikely, either. I'll just wait and see if anything else comes up and what my schedule will be. But a trip to Milano is certainly an option - I've only been there once for half a day, with no time for anything but out choir concert. Does anyone know when the Scala usually opens the ticket sales? Miguel Andrade, Falstaft, Martinland and 2 others 5
Jay 45,320 Posted October 6, 2021 Author Posted October 6, 2021 With both The Fabelmans and Indiana Jones 5 opening in 2022, he can't be doing THAT many more concerts.... can he?
Marian Schedenig 11,409 Posted October 6, 2021 Posted October 6, 2021 Who knows. He's clearly been revivified once again.

Alex 3,047 Posted October 7, 2021 Posted October 7, 2021 Fairplay to a 90 year old having the motivation/energy to keep on performing and travelling. An inspiration to us all. This also makes me so gutted that he cancelled the London gig in 2018. I’ve since moved to South America, so that was probably my only chance of ever seeing him. Crossing every finger and toe that he might come to Santiago 😅 crumbs 1

Hugo 25 Posted October 8, 2021 Posted October 8, 2021 great news! I've already been to La Scala on several occasions. It's certainly more suited to opera than to symphonic music, but it doesn't matter, it will certainly be another great experience! JW is on fire despite age, a great example of passion and dedication to the music. GlastoEls 1
