Courtney Sees Ghosts 269
Spent over a year listening to cell phone recordings of Helena's Theme. It's slowly but surely becoming one of my favorite recent non-Star Wars Williams pieces since The People's House from Lincoln. I haven't wanted to hear a film score this badly since The Force Awakens. I need the score and the track so bad. Need a score to listen to on a loop besides Across the Spider-Verse. Could you post in a spoiler block? I have a slightly different/longer answer than @TheUlyssesian. Providing it for people who wish to know. This version is even more of a spoiler, so you have been warned. I also address the question of music themes related to these characters. Spoiler Mutt has died in Vietnam prior to the 1969 part of the movie starting. (The movie starts in 1945 and then jumps to 1969.) We see evidence of this death visually, and then it is specifically mentioned. So, Mutt is not in the film. (We do not hear his theme either.) Marion has filed for divorce that has been finalized (or is about to be) without Indy even responding. Similarly, we see this visually before we are told this. However, Marion is in the film, and that is why Karen Allen is on the poster and was at the screening (and on stage) on Wednesday. We hear Marion's theme before we see her in a way that it is really Indy's theme for thinking about Marion more than it is her theme. Spoiler There may be more - it was basically all scored, but I recall the Raiders march, multiple German/Nazi cues from Raiders and Last Crusade, I think a whiff of the grail theme around a relic, the Scherzo for Motorcycle - and I feel like the music from the Utah/Young Indy part of Last Crusade was channeled around for the train sequence. Popular Post King Mark 3,631
We've been pretty much hyped the same for every new blockbuster JW score. Harry Potter, Indy4, SW Prequels,SW sequels... Same pattern: 1-Pre-Release Hype. Look for every preview clip that might contain a few seconds of new Williams music, inventing track lists and album covers, themes speculation... 2-OST release. Everyone commenting on the new themes and posting their reviews. 3-Movie Release: Realising the best cues aren't on the OST and going to the cinema over and over to note the unreleased music 4-Waiting for the FYC release and Blu Ray menus in hope of getting little bits of unreleased music 5-Possible sessions leak and expanded fan edits phase. 6-Official expansion release (Several decades later) But this one might be the last time so it's special. Popular Post Mr. Hooper 1,793
Maybe some sly, dark humor on the part of Williams to play Mutt's theme before the audience found out that he was unceremoniously killed off just to facilitate the plot, and drive a wedge between Indy and Marion...which Helena somehow managed to unwedge in the last minutes of the movie while Indy was out like a light...meaning poor Mutt was killed for nothing. crumbs, Bellosh and Taikomochi
