With the 25% off sale, I pretty much knocked out my “maybe” list from LLL, which included Die Hard, Child’s Play 2, and Batman: The Movie. I also bought Beavis and Butt-head because I liked the samples, and every one of their $5 CDs that I didn’t already have. All told, I spent too much money and have some regrets about it! 1 hour ago, Amer said: is LLL sending a disc 2 replacements.. I mean did anyone ask. rough cut 1,714
I guess the problem with these limited editions produced by highly specialized companies is that you never know which edition is the one to get. Wasn’t there a cue missing from the 2nd pressing of Jaws due to a rights issue?

Andy 4,128
So, I thought I'd completed my collection of JW commercially released scores when I picked up Mr. Chips... crumbs 14,316
I know it's not necessarily Intrada's fault but I won't be shelling out for an inferior product, if they really are stripping all the bonus tracks off and labelling it a "reissue." To hell with these AFM rules on quantities. Jaws is a defining score in film history and that archival release should remain in print for perpetuity. Can anyone explain why they can only re-release the score after scrapping a quarter of the album, when countless other scores have been expanded multiple times, often with subsequent expansions that went beyond the previous release? If the mandate is simply that the assembly needs to be different, couldn't they just move all the bonus tracks to disc 2, or drop one bonus track instead of them all? Even try adding the source music Williams declined in 2015? Never hurts to ask again, considering his stance may have changed in 7 years... Popular Post Trope 527
Oh boy, reading through this thread took me on a rollercoaster of emotions: anticipation, excitement, anxiety, disappointment, horror, and finally relief. Reading about the issues for CD2 from the initial pressings had me really disappointed in recently purchasing the item in the latest sale (will take a few weeks to ship). But discovering that these issues have been fixed in later pressings has got me re-hyped to listen to this score. I have so little experience with it, both in film and on OST, that I'm intentionally avoiding listening to it on Spotify just so I can fully "experience" it when the CD arrives. This whole situation, however, has made be reconsider whether I should continue making day 1 purchases for new releases from the specialty labels. I have only been properly collecting these physical expansions/remasters for under 2 years, and it sucks to think that if I had been purchasing some of my favourite scores (i.e. HP1-3 boxset or Land Before Time) way back when when they were first released, I would have had to go through the whole process of getting them replaced - living far away from the US, it takes no short amount of time (currently between 4-6 weeks). Or, even worse for this release, having to re-purchase it if you want it in its highest quality form. I do feel very fortunate to have just stumbled across this specific internet forum (JWFan) where other people are so meticulous and passionate about music and these releases, and their respective merits/issues are open for discussion. I feel like I've learnt so much about this and many other releases on these forums than I would have had I just read the liner notes included in the CD, especially going back through older threads I missed (such as E.T. or Close Encounters, which I recently picked up). Thanks to everyone who offers such valuable insights, I really appreciate it! crumbs, Taikomochi, Jay and 2 others
Popular Post Jay 37,364
Well, if you just look at the numbers, the specialty labels have released scores to literally multiple thousands of films, and the amount of releases that had a technical issue that was addressed via a repressing is probably something like 20-30 titles total over the past 30 years. So it's very rare and for the most part nothing you ever need to worry about. Additionally, if you don't physically play your discs to listen to them - instead playing rips of those discs as files - then there's really nothing morally wrong with keeping your first-pressing editions and listening to the fixed version that you downloaded from the internet instead of going through the hassle, expense, and impact on the environment of getting a fixed piece of plastic shipped out to you across continents. To argue for the other side, any problems with initial pressings are discovered by the community pretty quickly, so if you make a policy for yourself to wait and see before purchasing, you aren't doing too much of a disservice to yourself other than delaying your receipt of the physical item -- except the cases where the initial print run sells out, so you can't even order it once you know its safe until they get more in stock. But other than that, it's pretty safe to wait MrJosh, enderdrag64 and Trope

A very nice, cleanly recorded arrangement of the key themes from Schindler's List for basset horn and orchestra. The rest of the album is also very pleasant.
