  3. That's cool. So we do know there other Williams projects on the horizon. MV also responded on the La La Land News FSM thread with some interesting plans for 2017 specially 4th quarter. And he is asking us to save our pennies for that batch. Thats something rhyming with what exactly MM also said in the JURASSIC PARK Collection set interview: but starting in September and through our Black Friday slate I would start saving your pennies because 4th quarter is gonna be amazing if we can pull it all off. I didn't think it was possible to beat 2016s Black Friday batch but 2017 has the chance to be the "be all end all mic drop we retire from here" kind of slate of releases. Lol The only Mic dropping moment for me would be a the INDY BOX set if it pertains to Williams only. OR There could be multiple William related titles such JFK, TOWERING INFERNO, WITCHES OF EASTWICK & CE3K ? That could still be worth mic and jaw dropping OMG moment?

  5. So I guess that CD #3 runs about 77 minutes. From the separate Amazon entries for CDs #1 and #2, they run 65 and 69 minutes, respectively, plus the 22-minute DVD totals 156 minutes of the 233 minutes listed at Amazon.

  9. Amblin Announces Casting Call for Title Character in “The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara” The article mentions "The film will shoot in Europe beginning April, 2017", so if all goes to plan it seems it will be finished in time to come out by the end of this year. So, Williams should be able to score it in between Episode 8 main scoring, and any last minute Episode 8 rewrites.

  10. La La Land - Justin Hurwitz Listened to this probably 5 times since seeing the movie Saturday night. What an accomplishment. Wonderful, rich melodies; veers between delicate emotion and one of the most fun "jazzy" scores I've ever heard. Gosling and Stone don't have the strongest voices, but they certainly sell the emotions of these great songs. I do wish more of the non-song score was on the OST, but the highlights are mostly here. "Epilogue" is one of the best score cues of the past year, without doubt. If you want to sample this one, just listen to "Epilogue." Or maybe "Planetarium," also outstanding.

  14. Maybe they're just saving TLW, AI and WOTW so they can do a Part IV after Indy 5. In 2 years they'll have 3 new scores together, hopefully. That's half a soundtrack already.

  26. Damn! You mean Spielberg's "combine the two themes for Indiana Jones" story hit the cutting room floor!?!?

  27. For me, it's "the more osbcure, the better". My impression so far, however, is that these selections are in "middle" territory -- not only the big blockbusters, but not terribly obscure either, at least not to fans of the composer. A dream compilation for me would be if someone went into the studio to rerecord some of the 'jazzy' themes of the 60s. Doesn't need an orchestral set-up either!

    THE X-FILES

I've always viewed The X-Files more as Scully's journey than Mulder's. She's the one that has development as a character.

  32. I would not entirely disagree, though I can't say the show jumped the shark or nuked the fridge there. The show was always meta, and it was always preposterous in a way. The enormous hype and the generous two year wait after Sherlocks presumed death reinforced that, yes. But not dramatically so. Is you see Moriarty in the first two seasons he's essentially a Joss Whedon-like villain who knows he's a villain. Irene Adler is almost a carbon copy of River Song, just with a whip. A intelligent, independent woman who's the equal of the main character in every way...almost. Moffat would repeat that with Mary Morstan/Watson. This supposed "groundedness" of the first two series is very overstated in my opinion. The show was always high concept, incredibly clever, never very realistic or plausible. Thats why I don't have a huge problem with things going super ridiculous in The Final Problem. Three potential murderers suddenly lowered in front on a window of a Bond like fortress hide out, for the sole reason of a murder puzzle/ethical dilemma for Sherlock? I don't see anything incongruous about that considering the previous entries of the show. It's unrealistic, it's not trying to be, it was never supposed to be. I hope they do a series 5!

  39. No one's is. Perhaps his was less so than others', but no one is a truly and completely self-made success. We're all "standing on the shoulders of giants", as it were, and few of us are really standing alone. Lucas absolutely deserves credit for much of the incredible success of the Star Wars OT - it wouldn't have been possible without his ideas and his drive. Since then, he just seems to have underestimated how crucial it is to collaborate if you want to create a product that does anything more than fulfill your own vision.

  40. Not to mention JJ Abrams won't be able to pull that Mystery Box crap he's done since 2007 (and it didn't work with Cumberbatch's villain being the worst kept secret about STID). While there will be secrecy surrounding the plot, Kathleen Kennedy isn't the kind of producer to be OCD secretive about the casting. She'll announce who's playing who, but that's it. That's more straightforward than if Abrams was solely producing. Is it so bad to have some mystery to a film? I enjoy not knowing every detail about a film before its released. Hell, I got spoiled about Oblivion before I saw it in an article that wasn't even about the movie. I reminisce of the days when I was growing up and only had a few vague details about what a movie is. The movie should be an experience, and if in the movie itself a character's identity is a secret, than it should be for the audience as well. Into Darkness suffered only because everyone wanted you know who to be the villain since the release of the first in '09.
