I want those Star Trek reissues even though I have the box set. I just don’t feel like spending the money over and over for the next two years when there are so many other releases.

Same here. Heck, I could probably be talked into it if I heard from enough people that could convince me. I bought both of the LLL The Motion Picture and never had a smidge of buyers remorse.

But for a Star Trek release it's been eerily quiet.

Oh, and when did Always come out? That's in the last 2 1/2 isn't it?

The Scarface LP comes off as really, REALLY!  Order now and wait four months for delivery.  Can't imagine any production delays occurring in the interim.

Ot course, we're still waiting for the JFK release that MV said he was working on years ago.

That may come sooner rather than later since Oliver Stone announced that it will get a 4K release this year. Fingers crossed

What the hell!! I just bought a used copy of the '09 blu-ray last week from someone on eBay for $40, thinking we were never going to get a better version.

I waited for years before pulling the trigger on owning a copy of this paranoid masterpiece in its best presentation and all I had to do was wait one more fucking week to learn that it was finally coming to 4K????

Not likely as it's a WB title :(

When it comes to Williams, I assume that he or his management have enough clout to push through any administrative red tape if they really want to see it released.

Remind me, what's the issue with WB again?

I think its the new management taking over issue but from I told its super slow process to get any approvals in time or get to checkout at this time.

JFK is coming out for a new transfer on 4K so who knows?

I sympathize! I suspect that the same thing is going to happen with Munich, since I got the Blu-ray for a good price assuming that we're never going to see it on 4K

CATCH ME IF YOU CAN is bright, breezy, jazzy, smooth as an android's bottom and that's why it's one of the best fucking scores that JW has ever composed.

Fixed that for you!

Not sure of specifics but I think it was MV that said a while back to not expect anything from WB.

I’m sure the labels will have an in with WB again once they stop merging with other companies every two years.

The problem is that Tom Cruise* takes more than two years to sign off on album covers, so when he finally gets around to it, WB has switched owners several times already and the approval process has begun all over again.

*) Just as an example - I don't think the one remaining TC/JW project has anything to do with WB.

Great! Being able to order the BF titles straightaway will be really exciting and then they could get here well before Christmas. Is it worth wondering why these wretched studios can't just slap a signature on whatever LLL wants to do? Don't look/delay/put it aside, just... approve? Wouldn't kill anyone.

Not sure if I like them going for sale right away on BF, esp if it’s something I really want but will be asleep and may miss out on the initial batch.

3 am sucks to have to order something....buuuuuut....do any of their BF releases really sell out in a day?  I'm sure they wouldn't be doing this if they knew you'd have atleast a day or two to snag a copy before anything sells out.

La-La Land Records and Paramount Pictures proudly mark the 70th Anniversary of the landmark 1953 sci-fi thriller THE WAR OF THE WORLDS with an expanded and remastered CD re-issue of renowned composer Leith Stevens’ (DESTINATION MOON, TV’s VOYAGE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA, LAND OF THE GIANTS) original THE WAR OF THE WORLDS motion picture score. This limited edition release also includes the composer’s score to the 1951 feature film WHEN WORLDS COLLIDE. Both films were produced by legendary fantasy film producer Geroge Pal.

Leith Stevens’ powerful and notable orchestral scores for both big-screen spectacles were incredibly ground-breaking and influential - among the first to define the music sound of big-budget, color science fiction feature films. Now these important works sound better than ever before, as technological advancements made it possible for re-issue co-producer Chris Malone to revisit to the original acetate transfers and improve the sonic quality of the cues, as well as expanding the presentation with previously unreleased Bonus Tracks from both scores that were deemed unusable in the past.

Produced by Dan Goldwasser and Chris Malone, and restored and mastered by Malone, this limited edition CD release of 1000 units includes exclusive, in-depth liner notes by writer John Takis and Goldwasser’s sharp art direction features an out-of-this world reversible cover!

Comparison between the Trek release and the 15CD Boxset:

  • CD1 = CD4 + CD5 (tracks 1, 10-12) + one new track (Love Scene* LM4 (cond. Steiner) 1:16) + CD5 (tracks 13-15)
  • CD2 = CD6 (tracks 1-34) + CD5 (tracks 16-46, 49, 50) + CD6 (tracks 34)

So after the previous release we have

  • vol. 1, CD1 = CD2
  • vol. 1, CD2 = CD3 (tracks 1-45) + CD5 (tracks 2-9) + CD3 (tracks 46-47)
  • vol. 2, CD1 = CD4 + CD5 (tracks 1, 10-12) + one new track (Love Scene* LM4 (cond. Steiner) 1:16) + CD5 (tracks 13-15)
  • vol. 2, CD2 = CD6 (tracks 1-33) + CD5 (tracks 16-46, 49, 50) + CD6 (tracks 34)

Which means CD 2, 3, 4, 6 have been fully reissued while CD 5 is missing tracks 47, 48 and 51-76

And this is exactly why I don't comment on stuff I am not interested in anymore. Someone does want them and someone else worked hard on these releases. If I get something I want, good for me. If I don't, I save money. I don't lose in any scenario, only get pleasantly surprised sometimes. These people know exactly what we want and will get it out in due course when (and if) possible.

I clicked "like" on your post. I guess that means I need to lay off Zimmer and Balfe, even though they stick in my craw like nothing else on earth. Sigh...

3 CD or no sale. If they omit anything Parkening recorded while JW was in the building, a repressing will be required. 4 CDs if that's what it takes....

Maybe Maurizio or Jay could ask MM which of these older titles would likely not get a thumbs up today. We know about Sugarland, Storia Un a Donna and Rare Breed that never got releases (except for a few boots of the first one) and are presumably still on the nixed list.
