Popular Post Evanus 422 Posted December 19, 2018 Popular Post Posted December 19, 2018 So, Ludwig Göransson is doing the score! https://www.starwars.com/news/ludwig-goransson-to-compose-score-for-the-mandalorian Cerebral Cortex, Pieter Boelen, John and 2 others 5
Luke Skywalker 2,334 Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 Maybe the series will have an Oscar winner composer after all...😛 John 1
p0llux 434 Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 oh the Blank Panther composer? Interesting. I wonder if he'll approach the score with a symphonic sound or not(Doubt it).
Manakin Skywalker 5,860 Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 Well there goes 75% of my enthusiasm. However I will admit I am not in any way familiar with any of his music. Still not enthusiastic about this choice.
Popular Post Not Mr. Big 4,940 Posted December 19, 2018 Popular Post Posted December 19, 2018 I don't see any problem with it. His Black Panther score was great Will, John, The Illustrious Jerry and 3 others 6
crocodile 9,531 Posted December 20, 2018 Posted December 20, 2018 He reminds a lot of John Powell actually. Similar type of sensibilities. Karol Will and Not Mr. Big 2
Manakin Skywalker 5,860 Posted December 20, 2018 Posted December 20, 2018 If he is a competent enough composer, then I look forward to him proving me wrong.
The Illustrious Jerry 3,361 Posted December 20, 2018 Posted December 20, 2018 Probably should've been Haab, would love to hear more Powell Star Wars, but at the end of the day Goransson is good enough for me Not thrilled, but interested. I didn't expect that much for this. EDIT: Did I write this???
John 2,033 Posted December 20, 2018 Posted December 20, 2018 Awesome! Really enjoyed his score for Black Panther. I wasn’t expecting for there to be so much talent attached to this show. Very much interested in seeing how it turns out.

Goransson can make some real kick-ass music, so my interest in this show is slightly higher, now. The Illustrious Jerry, Not Mr. Big and Elayis 3

Obi 409 Posted December 20, 2018 Posted December 20, 2018 It's a great news... but I expected John Debney (because Jon Favreau) ! The Illustrious Jerry and Manakin Skywalker 2

Pieter Boelen 1,032 Posted December 20, 2018 Posted December 20, 2018 I like Debney quite a bit and would like to see him tackle a Star Wars job some day. But after Black Panther, I can see the new guy doing a good job too. I'll be excited for this! Will and The Illustrious Jerry 2
Popular Post crocodile 9,531 Posted December 20, 2018 Popular Post Posted December 20, 2018 Black Panther...and both Creed scores. The latter ones show that he can write and really properly develop a theme. I think the main Creed theme consists of no fewer than 3 sections. It's first rate stuff and he runs with it. Karol The Illustrious Jerry, Not Mr. Big, Pieter Boelen and 1 other 4
Pieter Boelen 1,032 Posted December 28, 2018 Posted December 28, 2018 Honestly, the guy doesn't seem like a bad sort. Clearly puts some thought and effort into what he does; and he likes using different styles. Means we've got no clue what he'll come up with for this one, but chances are he'll give it a good shot. Not Mr. Big 1

Karol The ability to write a good theme is a more important quality in a Star Wars composer than being able to exactly replicate Williams' style IMO Now I'm not saying that Haab CAN'T write a good theme or anything but none of the Battlefront melodies were all that hot (particularly that main melody from the first game, which becomes really grating after a couple renditions). crocodile and Holko 1 1
The Illustrious Jerry 3,361 Posted July 27, 2019 Posted July 27, 2019 I guess this means Goransson's recording the score around now. https://www.instagram.com/p/B0bdSXIF5tc/?utm_source=ig
Manakin Skywalker 5,860 Posted July 27, 2019 Posted July 27, 2019 The episode they showed at Celebration had music, so I'm assuming he at least scored the first episode either very early this year or late last year.
The Illustrious Jerry 3,361 Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 They showed an entire episode at the Celebration? Didn't know. I thought it was just a behind the scenes promotional video.
Manakin Skywalker 5,860 Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 They showed a promo on the livestream, but they showed part of the episode (not the full episode, my mistake) behind closed doors. Someone uploaded it to YouTube that day and I downloaded it before it was quickly removed.
Manakin Skywalker 5,860 Posted August 24, 2019 Posted August 24, 2019 They added some new credits to the music section on IMDB I noticed. A few familiar names in there of course. Mark Graham and Pete Anthony are the conductors (which leads me to assume they're either using the Hollywood Studio Symphony or the London Chamber Orchestra, as I expected). Also Henri Wilkinson is one of the orchestrators (additional composer for Star Wars: Battlefront and Star Wars: The Old Republic).
Obi 409 Posted August 26, 2019 Posted August 26, 2019 The magnificient poster is here, so I made this fan-art.

Laserschwert 670 Posted August 26, 2019 Posted August 26, 2019 Also: there shouldn't be a space between "Disney" and "+"

Laserschwert 670 Posted August 26, 2019 Posted August 26, 2019 I found our criticism fairly constructive.
crumbs 15,907 Posted August 26, 2019 Posted August 26, 2019 No one was being nasty about it, just pointing out a minor spelling mistake.
Laserschwert 670 Posted August 26, 2019 Posted August 26, 2019 Ahem... it should still be "DISNEY+ SERIES" instead of "DISNEY + SERIES".
toothless 1,039 Posted October 20, 2019 Posted October 20, 2019 I'm curious about the score. But the thing is, his score for BP never impressed me so… we'll see.
Disco Stu 15,517 Posted November 1, 2019 Posted November 1, 2019 The LA Times published a long profile of Göransson and the score https://www.latimes.com/lifestyle/story/2019-11-01/composer-ludwig-goransson-music-sounds-black-panther-disney-star-wars-mandalorian Quote The way I approached it was to try something completely different. The loneliness of a single solo flute. The bass recorder became the sound of the Mandalorian. That’s how I started. ... I wanted the core soul to be organic. Then I wanted to add a tech sound to it. And I also wanted to add on a cinematic orchestra, which makes it feel like ‘Star Wars.’ ” Sounds like he’s trying something pretty different from imitating Williams, which is only a good thing IMO mstrox and The Illustrious Jerry 2
KK 3,310 Posted November 1, 2019 Posted November 1, 2019 Lots of talk about the clothes he wears. Very little about his music.

Edmilson 11,772 Posted November 9, 2019 Posted November 9, 2019 So, they'll release a few tracks from every episode every week? Great!
Disco Stu 15,517 Posted November 9, 2019 Posted November 9, 2019 And I'm guessing a physical release will come when the season ends. I like the idea of releasing tracks digitally with each episode. A. A. Ron 1
Manakin Skywalker 5,860 Posted November 9, 2019 Posted November 9, 2019 I'm cautiously optimistic about the score. I've heard only a little big of Ludwig's music before, and wasn't that impressed. He's not a bad composer, just kind of... bland? Not sure if that's the word I'm looking for exactly. I just hope it sounds like Star Wars, and not Hans Zimmer / Junkie XL shit.
