Varese only owns perpetuity rights to three Williams scores (Cowboys, Stanley & Iris, Presumed Innocent), and they've all got the Deluxe Mike Matessino treatment now, so probably no more to ever come from them

 

Roger posted in February that a Williams title was coming from Intrada this year, and then Doug posted in April that it's actually "a couple" Williams releases coming, both produced by Mike Matessino.  No more specific information is known than that.

Do we happen to know who owns rights to Heartbeeps?
I've almost pulled the trigger on the secondary market several times but can't bring myself to do it. 

 

Edit: I know it's a Universal picture but wondering who has music rights at this point

I think it's BETTER; I spin it much more often. It may not have quite the same highlights as the original iconic Jurassic Park score, but there's not a single cue in the complete score I ever feel like skipping (and I'm not sure I can say that about the original).

No one does. There was no OST album, so Universal Pictures owns the whole score themselves.

Bless your heart, mentioning Heartbeeps in the new Lost World thread.  It’s a personal favorite. The End Title is right up there with Williams’ best from the 75-84 era. 
 

I will be buying the Lost World again.  One of the boldest, toothiest, most muscular scores ever composed by anybody.

Very curious to see what improvements/changes are made because the previous release is basically perfect.

 

Literally the only things I ever found distracting were a slight AQ differential in the newly restored section of Rescuing Sarah and a slightly mistimed performance edit in The Raptors Appear.

 

The rest is just wishlist material. I've always wanted the percussion only tracks since hearing the low quality recording through speakers at Universal Studios. Plus a film edit of Ripples (because it's impossible to recreate without the synth-free music stems) and maybe Corporate Choppers with that high pitched flute that's audible in the film but missing from the LLL (presumably SFX).

 

And it'd be cool to hear alternate takes for the entirety of The Lost World (Alternate) instead of using the same takes from the album version, sans the revised intro. Mike started doing that with Alternate tracks in recent expansions (which is smart, because why have one short section with alternate material when the entire track can use alternate takes).

 

And technically there's enough room to include all the OST combo tracks (like Malcolm's Journey) on disc 2 but it's nothing that can't be recreated ourselves.

I didnt care at first but over the years the overlapping of corporate choppers with the previous cue, separated in film by a lenghty unscored scene, irks me a lot now.

 

So I hope this new set is worth it if only for that.

Hopefully they're going to do JP3 in the near future and this release just makes all 3 available for the slightly longer term in an affordable way.
