I actually think it might be a bit more than vibes in only these tracks, as I feel that Helena’s theme and Sabrina share some similarities, which are are easier to spot when Helena’s theme is used in action mode with proper instrumentation and maybe even some piano solo on the top of it. But keep in mind that I’m the one who keeps hearing Obi-Wan at ‘The Airport’ (0:16->). 😂
Popular Post Martinland 360
Just my two cents: Managed to experience the movie at the first evening screening yesterday, on the largest screen available. It was a torn experience - amazing stuff as well as not quite expected one, couldn't get into it completely - but one thing is for sure: Seeing John Williams' name on the screen and listening to the end credits was almost the best part. (except for 90% of the TukTuk chase, Helena's witty deductions on the boat, the classic Indy tomb discovery sequence and some but not most parts of the 1944 sequence, hard to explain) Now I will wait for the CD and read every page of this thread. (still on page 12, as I didn't read anything prior to the screening) My current feelings: 1. Joy of anticipation for the OST (I accept it as it is - a miracle to enjoy) 2. Growing melancholy (pretty much the last and longest constant in my life is about to fade away [*]) Just wanted to share this. * Luckily the Commodore 64 and its scene are still READY. I love how it is featured in the prologue, it really deserves it's own concert suite! Too bad there is so little of it in the actual film! I love how understated this theme is, especially considering the supposed ramifications Archimedes' mechanism has in the story. Voller's long-winded motif (the one that's similar to Boba Fett's motif from TESB) is also a highlight of the score for me. What strikes me is how melancholic this entry is. It does seem like the film's themes of aging and the passage of time really resonated with Williams. I'm really quite thankful that he chose to score this film after all. Popular Post paleo 63
I've listened to the album several times now, and I must say I like it even more now. I rarely manage to listen to complete albums, let alone repeatedly, but Williams does not disappoint. Even what I presume is Archimedes' theme really grew on me, despite it being rather understated for a MacGuffin concept. My personal highlights are not the action pieces (great as they mostly are), however, but 0:11 - 0:45 in "Archimedes' Tomb" and, to a lesser extent, 0:14 - 0:50 in "The Grafikos"; I just love these myterious, suspenseful discovery cues Williams writes. Somehow none of the composers of similar movies (Tomb Raider, Uncharted, Jungle Cruise etc.) quite managed to meet my taste so far. I do hope there's a little more of this in the actual movie. crumbs, Chewy, Tydirium and 5 others

Okay look at ur examples here: Tomb Raider(2018) was Junkie XL Uncharted was Ramin Djawadi Jungle Cruise was James Newton Howard It's like the stages of human evolution. Junkie is the monkey to JNH somewhere in the middle standing more upright. You're basically moving from the simplistic RCP sound to JNH's unrefinely sophisticated orchestral sound. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Taikomochi and Edmilson 1

MrJosh 892
Listening through a 2nd time. Water Ballet has some organ in it, that's pretty cool! As is the other cool percussion going on in the track. As I listen through, I can't tell whether I like the mix or not...I keep going back and forth. There's times I think the strings should sound 'bigger', and some of the percussion seems really close, but then at the same time, I hear a lot of nice clarity and detail which I like. Sometimes I want to say the brass (maybe French horns in particular) sound a little harsh, but then again other times I think the brass sounds great. Bass seems really heavy sometimes, like pizzicato bass and bass drum very strong. Overall, I want to say I like the sound of the mix better than the Star Wars sequels, but I don't know, I'll have to compare. Popular Post artguy360 1,843
After having listened to the OST several times through but not yet having seen the film (watching tomorrow), I'd like to share overall impressions: - Helena's theme is beautiful and works as a flowing golden age heroine theme and works well in more of an action mode. - the bad guy themes are appropriately fun and brassy. - Indy's theme is used way too sparingly. It's almost jarring when it gets a big presentation in New York, 1969. - the OST lacks an emotional heart, something like the father and son theme in TLC or maybe even just more of Indy's theme played in that guise like it does in To Morocco. - And most unfortunately, the action music lacks the kick-ass tenacity that runs through the best Indy action music. There is no bad-ass, I want to listen to it on repeat action music on this OST. Pieter Boelen, JTN and Jay

pete 907
I had a strange week. I had a lot going on in my life and one complete surprise - nothing really terrible, but was on my mind a lot.... So I just couldn't get excited about the score - or rather I couldn't really concentrate on it, which I think for me with a new Williams score is first! Hence, I'm still getting to know it, and up until yesterday I didn't really have time to give it my full attention. I'm sure it'll grow on me though! Am planning to spend more time with it this weekend. and I'll be seeing the movie on Tuesday or Wednesday. I like tinkering, so here's what I did to the OST. I edited into three sections the Prologue. My iTunes version starts with The Helena beginning of that piece. Helena's Theme moved to after New York 1969, which I divided into two at the obvious point. There's not a clean gap between the Prologue's villian music and the Greek motive and the rest of the piece, but I used a bit of a fade into the Greek motive so It's something I can live with, The violin version I moved to Across The Stars where it follows Marion's Theme - or "Marion's Violin" as I renamed it. I like having all those violin arrangements in the one artificial iTunes album. MaxMovieMan and Pieter Boelen
