My predictions based on absolutely nothing other than idle speculation:

The Godfather: Part II

Jurassic Park ///

Born on the Fourth of July

Something else (perhaps Bond?)

Another something (The Mask of Zorro?)

Thoughts?

That would be a very cool selection! All seem reasonable enough, though I’d guess it’ll be a bit longer before JP3.

I'll copy and paste here what I said on the other thread:

The pessimistic/realistic JW fan in me says that, if Mike spent so much time on such a complex project like TSoM, then he probably didn't have time nor energy to work on a JW project for the Black Friday, not even a "smaller" one like Catch me If You Can or Nixon.

I have a bad feeling that we only will get new MM John Williams expansions next year.

On the other hand, judging by some comments on the Horner thread, I think The Mask of Zorro is a pretty good bet!

1 how much time did he have to spend on it, seeing as quite a bit groundwork was already laid back in the 90's etc.

2 there could be things he worked on a while back or after that could come out.

I want, but based on MV's comments about having a couple of 60s Universal titles this year, I fear we may be waiting a bit longer.

However, I so badly hope he wasn't being completely literal. There couldn't conceivbly be a better time to put it out than now.

It was my wallet. My wallet made me forget 😭

Tell me about it. 5 to 7 titles and it’s still November. And then there’s the Intrada Solo release.

I'm afraid of it ain't Williams I won't be getting it. I've had to set some serious boundaries on my soundtrack spending.

:(

Same here. My life has seriously changed in the last 6 months. I’ve been collecting soundtrack CDs for 30 years and never did I have to limit myself. Until now. But I’ve had to face reality, I can’t afford to buy every CD I’m interested in anymore. I consider myself very lucky if I can buy one a month (which I can’t). And as much as I’d want to get the new JW box set, it’s completely out of the question for me now. A year ago I’d have bought it in a heartbeat.

Yeah, I guess approvals by the studios/filmmakers screwed up LLL’s release plans this year, so they have to combine all their releases into one super batch. Not pleasant for anyone, especially for those with a thin wallet. And then there’s Intrada, Varèse Sarabande and Quartet. It’s both great and awful that there’re so many new releases coming out at the same time.

I hope this JP3 talk is more than just wishful thinking.

Realistically it's not really based on anything other than given LLL have been getting the first two definitively done, it's the perfect time to do the third. From a personal perspective, barring studio/licensing problems (which will putter a spanner in HP 4), I don't like seeing franchises that started with Williams and continued under other batons, stop just because the Williams ones are out.

So wishful thinking? Kinda yep.

I already know what these 8 scores are gonna be:

  1. Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace;
  2. Star Wars: Episode II: Attack of the Clones;
  3. Star Wars: Episode III: Revenge of the Sith;
  4. Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope;
  5. Star Wars: Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back;
  6. Star Wars: Episode VI: Return of the Jedi;
  7. Raiders of the Lost Ark;
  8. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom;

:D

All of these as 2-CD sets.

It's looking like 5 projects are 100% happening for BF...as for the others we shall see

Well, 5 out of 8 possible projects only for this year's BF is still a great number considering he's saying approvals are taking so long this year.

OTOH, if the 3 projects that may not happen this year are the most popular ones (like, say, Elfman's Spider-Man 2, something from the Bond series or a huge Williams, Horner or Goldsmith grail) while the 5 left are the more niche stuff (like a Richard Band score for a forgotten direct-to-video low budget horror movie), then it'll be bad not just for the fans but also for LLL itself. Believe me, I know how important the Black Friday is for companies that sell stuff.

I just said that the BF is an important commercial date, that's all. And, in LLL's case, this might be even more true. Which is why it will not be good for them if this year's BF batch doesn't include at least two or three heavy-hitters.
