It's interesting how the old version was perfect for their blossoming youthful relationship in the original trilogy whereas this one seems to depict them at much older age. It's more bittersweet and doesn't flourish quite in the same way. But there is still love in there. Filled with disappointing and heartbreaks...but still. Karol

Guys I’m sorry but an HP1 without the children’s suite would have to be categorized as a disappointment for me.

Well, I think that was something special. The LSO playing John Williams with such skill and passion. And the maestro listening along to the performance through the radio from his hospital bed... I may never get to see Mr. Williams in person himself, but if I don't this was still some night to be a witness to.

Thanks to Jason, Quintus and all the other hard worker bees...organizing more than 3 people is always a chore. And all the best to the rest of the gang. From what I’ve heard the Maestro is still eager to come to Vienna next year, so that’s a class reunion then, maybe!

Few more dodgy photos: Any concerns that it would be a cancellation fest were immediately put to bed upon arrival. It was absolutely packed.

I'm sure many people just want ONE decent sounding expanded program without 5 discs of music from other movies. Sound reasonable to you?

It would have been even more wonderfully surprising if they'd just handed out the Complete HP boxset out in the foyer, along with the programme... 😂

I think this is the biggest gathering of JWFan ever!

You lot in London stop complaining. You got to see and hear the LSO play John Williams iconic music in one of the most storied venues in the grandest city in the world hanging out with some very fine people. If you can't enjoy and appreciate that, maybe it's time to find another hobby. I hear Slow TV is all the rage!

I finally got around to listening to the concert and, wow, it blew me away and left me feeling very emotional. I can’t imagine what it was like in person! More importantly, knowing that Williams was comfortably listening to the concert from his hospital bed made it all the better. A big thanks to all who shared the appropriate listening links and, of course, to those who are sharing their in person experiences with those who weren’t able to be there.

Thor turns out to be a perfectly decent bloke now that i finally met him. Turns out he can't wait to hear the C&C of Dracula.

Guys, a huge THANK YOU to Lee & wife, Stefan, Jay&Marcy for setting all up and giving us a day to remember! It was great to see all of you and meet in real life. I only wish I could spend more time with all of you. I’m sorry we didn’t join for post concert drinks, but me and my girlfriend were up and running since 4am and were brutally tired, our heads were so heavy. We’ll be around London until tomorrow, so feel free to reach out! It was an amazing day, capped off by a thrilling concert performed beautifully. John’s physical absence was truly felt, but his unforgettable music was there. Thank you all for the nice words about my blog too! I plan to boost it with new content soon. And the amount of effort and sleuthing after the tapes and elements to make these releases happen is nothing short of staggering at times. Which makes me appreciate people in this business all the more since it is clearly a labour of love to them to go that extra mile to make them happen.

One cool thing about that I learned yesterday during the meetup with Mike in London is that Williams actually asked Mike to find Dracula sources and, I assume, to produce this album. Usually the other way around - Mike has to convince maestro. Johnny must be very fond of this one. Karol

They sure do. I thought that they were in particularly fine form yesterday and people who had heard them multiple times before attested to that as well after the concert. Such energy in Royal Albert Hall. And that brass section has such an incredible sound!

It was sneaky of Mike to just add that announcement apparently off-handedly to the end blurb of the programme notes like that. But I am sure he knew JWFanners would immediately notice it. And I am over the moon about this! Let's hope these will be out sooner rather than later!

Me - "Can you raise the limit on my credit card please?" The bank - "For what, do you have a project?" Me - "Com'on, I'm a JWFan." Seriously, I hate to say that... but I'm now very happy that John Williams only scored the first three movies and not the seven ones!!!

I'm so happy to have noticed that immediately on the programme. First page I opened was this one, I saw Matessino and Harry Potter in the same sentence, had to triple check before realizing. I'm excited like never before now.

It would be so deflating to have the official expansion without the children’s suite. Making do with the crap audio quality of the leak for another couple decades or something Come on Mike! You can do it! Take as many discs as needed!

I read you nickname since 1 minute trying to understand it. I have a headache this morning. Rule #1222 from JWFAN rules book: 1222 - If you ask something to the community, at least select an avatar. Mercy...

I'm not interested in leaks. I never listen to them. I only listen to official sanctioned releases.

Wow! That is an incredible anecdote! Thanks for the insight @crocodile So my understanding is that about 3 years ago, Varese acquired poor sounding mono masters of the Dracula sessions, which Williams' camp vetoed for use in any expansion of the score. Perhaps Williams has quite a fondness of the score and was dismayed at the notion its stereo masters were lost, so personally tasked MM with tracking down a superior quality master. Maybe the anecdotes of other similar "lost" tapes being tracked down by MM were relayed to Williams and it gave him confidence that he was the best man for the job. Definitely bodes well for future collaborations. Seems like nothing's off-limits at this point, barring Sugarland and some other earlier works. Who knows, maybe even those infamous "lost" Hook tapes could be recovered with Mike on the case!

And Empire and Jedi in a proper presentation and listenable quality...

If it came down to a choice between HP and the other titles to be released, HP would win hands down! Sorry Superman and Schindler's List!
