  1. I listened half of it. Nice. Patty jenkins could hire melumad for her rogue squadron movie and get zimmer out of the equation....

  2. With my recent revisit of these scores I went on the hunt for some alternative album artwork. I didn’t see anything that really stuck out and grabbed me. (Lots of alternative “Hobbit” score artwork interestingly enough. But not a ton for this original trilogy) So I made some based off of the fantastic updated design from some of the original book covers. I took the title treatments from the films title cards to tie the two interpretations together. I’ll make some more alternates too and share them.

  3. Another one of my favorites. 57 seconds. (Video says 58;) Can’t go wrong with a classic Thomas Newman score. He seems to prefer a ton of short tracks on his albums.

  4. I've said this elsewhere in this thread ... Ford could still voice him and 'animated Indy' could be made to look whatever age they see fit, but all the running, jumping, fisticuffs and whip-work would be somebody else's department.

  5. To me it's a once every few weeks movie, but at no point is it a festive feeling flick.

  6. Because 'suite' has an enigmatic allure to many score fans and automatically upsells simple music edits into the realms of the concert hall.

  7. The Alan Rickman/Emma Thompson does gives us the two best scenes in the movie, IMHO. The scene when he is buying the necklace from Rowan Atkinson and her scene crying in the bedroom

  8. Remarkable how vividly the beginning of ‘The Mission’ from Amazing Stories sets the scene and tone in just over 30 seconds! 2M11R BB & Rey from TFA. It’s 0:59, so it just barely made it: And I’ve always loved this charming little woodwind and pizzicato string bit from Star Wars: A New Hope, 2M6 R-2:

  9. Added these on another thread. But here’s some LOTR covers I did. Based off the book covers and use of the films title cards. I’ll add some more variations a bit later if anyone’s interested.

  13. Cousin (?) of Rian Johnson and his composer on every film they made... except for The Last Jedi which, being a Star Wars movie, was scored by John Williams. This seems to be LFL's modus operandi when it comes to their main franchises. It's why I believe they'll at least ask Williams if he's interested, and he probably will be. If he's not, well... start dreading the Marco Beltrami (and others) Indiana Jones score.

  14. Being realistic, I do believe LucasFilm will at the very least ask JW is he's interested in scoring the movie. Remember that Giacchino and Nathan Johnson didn't score the SW movies as well.

  15. He's making that old joke that the 90s were only a few years ago.

  16. So basically just like any other JW score.

  18. That might be, but to me it divides into three main categories: new carols, rehash, and the rest is mainly not very interesting.

  19. Did he invest so much though, apart from the two new carols? Most of the score is a rehash.

  20. It has a better OST than the first one. And I love the cameo actor! I even have a picture of him on my wall.

  22. To me every Potter movie qualifies (they came out in late Novembers, and most of them have a Christmas moment in it). And of course Die Hard.

  23. The originally intended music is more like source music that could be playing at a wizard market.

  24. Let me point out that the film is being directed by Patty Jenkins, who has primarily been collaborating with Hans Zimmer lately...

  25. Fixed. Also, who should score the Willow series? Simon Franglen?

  27. Of the ones I've heard I'd say The Mandalorian is the best TV theme of the past twenty years. It is excellent. Though, the rest of the underscore is so so.

  28. Ha, ha. As previously noted, I've lost total control of time in recent years. But thanks for the correction that totally makes my point null and void.

  29. Fair enough. Personally, I'm open to all kinds of scenarios: Harrison Ford doing all kinds of stunts through the power of movie magic. Ford taking a backseat mentor role while a younger actor does the stunts. An Indy film that is less about action in the first place, YOUNG INDY-style. Or any other variation thereof. Anything goes! Just less interdimensional beings, please.

  30. This. I don't see any reason why Williams would turn this score down. We all know he will have first right of refusal. He did Star Wars without Lucas or anyone associated with the original trilogy, mostly because Kathy Kennedy was running Lucasfilm. With Indy, he has Kennedy, Spielberg and Marshall all producing the film. The only way Williams doesn't score this film is if Williams himself isn't interested.

  31. JW will get first refusal, and if he doesn't want to do it outright, I hope he recommends Powell. Beltrami would do a fine job, but Powell's proven he's the right choice with Solo.

  32. Yes, but LOGAN was great. I have hopes for this movie, even if Spielberg will no longer direct. And I find the endless jokes surrounding Ford's age very tiresome. He's very fit for his age, and it's up to the screenwriters to write his character in a way that takes his age into consideration.

  33. I've been a silent reader in this thread 😁 But, gosh, IMO, chapter 15 may be the best episode of this season ( for me, almost ties with the spider episode), And it's unsurprising though, because Rick Famuyiwa directed it ( he also directed the best episode of the first season!) And the writing too, really felt upgraded ( no surprise again, Rick wrote it) I just couldnt stop smiling seeing the banter between Mando and the Bill Burr character ( i think the script helps it) And it goes very intense when it needs to be, and jolly, how it really reminds me of a Tarantino sequence! ( you know it when you see it) The character development is very strong in this epsiode ( something lacking in previous episodes) Overall, i really couldn't contain my excitement watching this episode! SW is really in a very great hand with Rick Famuyiwa.

  34. For any (insane) person still on the fence about buying this excellent release, here's a 20% discount code for HDTracks which brings the price to about $16 USD. An absolute steal for an expansion of this quality! Code: DecHD20

  35. More musical invention in these single cues than many entire scores! And this all-timer (with credit to Victor Young): I also wanted to put up "Risk, But No Reward" from Goldsmith's First Knight but couldn't locate it on YouTube.
