While I don't collect vinyl myself, I do hope there is one for TLW, and JP3 someday. Neither ever got one, unlike all the other Jurassic scores. It would be cool to see what Mondo would come up with.

Well, imho it's not as good as JP overall, but in some ways it is. If anyone can always make the sequel better than the original, it's John Williams. Like he did in the case of Jaws 2, The Empire Strikes Back, he did it here as well. He didn't copy his original work, he gave it a whole other flavour. It has much more action music, it's much faster and aggressive if I may say so. To me JP is the superior score, but to many TLW is the better one. It's a matter of personal taste, I guess. With all that said, it's an absolutely must-have for both fans of JW and fans of Film Music in general. It's a GREAT score.

Very different from the first score. Lots of grooving Latin percussion and little use of the previous themes. There's a new, more darkly adventurous theme that bookends the events on the island, as well as new motifs for the dinosaurs (both as threatening predators and as caring parents). It's dark and jungle-y and not very melodic. It was really disappointing to me at first. Later it became one of my favorites.

• Perhaps the inclusion of percussion-only (or -less) tracks?
• Ripples and Corporate helicopters have sound-effects in them IIRC (like a single synth note).

Many moons ago I made the mistake of selling off my SW 4-disc box set from the early 90's and I have long-regretted it ever since.  Yeah, I have the SE 2-dics sets with more music but there are times I wished I never sold the big box set.  My advice is to keep the JP box set.

Looks nice, as any JW release.

 

I got the box set and didn’t go for the Jurassic Park stand alone release since it didn’t have any substantial changes. But it still irks me that I don’t own the best possible version of the score since JP is one of my top JW albums - if not the top JW album.

 

Regarding buying a stand alone release of this - I will probably not go for this one either, especially if there’ are no or only only minor changes.

 

But I’m glad to see it in print… Now go do the same for Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny!

LLL sends out an email newsletter with the press release and track lists about 12 hours before new titles goes on sale.

 

These new titles go up for sale Tuesday August 8th at 12:00PM PST, which is the same moment that samples go live.

I'm probably in the minority that thinks the box is the best version of JP - I prefer its mixing and overall sound - hence unless this reissue contains something seismic, I'm very happy with my first purchase.
