  1. Amazing first half! He started to do his usual speech about not remembering which of the nine Star Wars films Across the Stars is from, but I held up two fingers right in front of him and he gleefully reacted and announced that it was from the second film “with Natalie Portman”. What a neat moment! Gonna remember that forever.

  2. He walked pass me; as he walked by, I just said, “Good evening, Maestro.” He gave me a gentle nod, smiled and said, “Good evening; thank you for coming.” Just a brief moment, but worth every penny. I’ll never forget it. He really is a gentlemen. His humble attitude really shows.

  5. I've been meaning to listen to Loki outside of the show, but that is the only of Holt's music I have heard. She should really write a suite of music and call it Holt's The Planets, great pun opportunity there.

  6. This particular theme benefits greatly from the scaled-down chamber approach. I never liked the thick strings in the original--just seemed too much. I think this will both breathe new life into the piece and become the "standard" version going forward.

  8. It's a lovely arrangement. Got some of those gorgeous, autumnal STEPMOM vibes in the guitar. Great that they made a video out of it.

  9. The food was excellent. The whole gala event was such a joy to experience. The price for the gala dinner was totally worth it; a once-in-a-lifetime experience. It was such a joy being with the Maestro this evening. I will never forget this whole evening. It was simply mesmerizing in the best way.

  10. Super fun night. I thought I'd finally get to go to a John Williams concert and not hear the Imperial March, and then...

  12. The Hyborian Age is upon us! It gives me great pleasure to say that Basil Poledouris' iconic score from "Conan the Barbarian" is now available to pre-order (ships week commencing 9th May). Celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, for many it was their first exposure to Arnold Schwarzenegger. With the movie featuring almost wall-to-wall music, this is a really must-have study score! The book includes every cue from the movie, plus various album edits and unused cues. The perfect companion to read along with the movie, or with the expanded Original Soundtrack release from Intrada. Add to that a beautiful foreword by Zoë Poledouris Roché and thematic and cue analyses by Erik Heine, this book really has everything. Order Here: bit.ly/CSMP_IFS-004

  13. OK. Now the question pops up, why was that information kept a secret for such a long time? Anyway, it's not bad news so far. But I still don't expect anything special or great. The aera of the great scores is over anyway.

  14. You know that thing that Hans Zimmer does where he assembles all the trombone players of a small nation-state in the Budokan and has them play deep unisons? This is the generalized form.

  15. The most mysterious and enigmatic piece (of toast) in John Williams' ouvre returns this September! https://www.bso.org/events/williams-bach-montgomery-holst I wonder if this show will be broadcast? I might have to go bootleg it myself!

  16. Brian Tyler cited Raiders and stuff like that as inspirations for his Avengers score. This doesn't really mean anything anymore. Hope Natalie does well. But I am not expecting much. Might listen to a bit of Loki later. Can't really recall much of it from the show beyond general vibe. Karol

  17. I’d like to say that the Maestro does not look 90 at all, and he conducted the orchestra with such energy, I was like, “Wow!” He really looks great!

  18. He's written some serviceable and even good stuff. But there's nothing (to me) that has made me say "I can't wait for that to be on CD." For the big screen in another era. Speaking of which we just watched Robot of Sherwood. I know Tenant and Smith got all the ratings but Capaldi and Coleman were amazing.

  19. I think it's a neat touch with him in front, part conducting, part just sitting back as an audience. Elevates the video.

  20. What an experience. Will never forget it. The audience was electric. John Williams just never stopped playing. The original concert time was 90 mins and he played for 2hrs. Concert started at 7:10 and ended at 9:30 (15 min intermission) I was in the third row and saw you do this. Very jealous!

  21. A surreal experience I will remember for the rest of my life. JW still stunningly energetic in his conducting. That's super cool that it was a JWFan member who reminded him about AOTC! That was a fun moment, and it's even better knowing it was a fellow member. Sound the Bells was a really excellent concert opener! I thought it sounded even better than on the American Journey CD.

  26. The last season with Bill is arguably the most consistent season Moff ever did! Of course now my kids keep asking my favorite Doctor. My girl's favorite is Smith, the boy has kind of settled on Tenant. So when we watch a Capaldi episode we're watching "Dad's Doctor". I keep telling them "Splendid chap. All of them." (Yes, I'm including Whittaker.)

  34. To be fair, the Eaters of Light had a 2.8 overnight rating as well, so its not like the audience has cratered out during Chibnall. Its been steadily dropping since The Day of the Doctor and there's many factors to explain. DVR and On demand viewing is far more popular as time progresses. Shows that are geared more towards an older audience are always going to draw a bigger initial audience, as those shows have less viewers that will watch the show beyond the live tv airing. Also, the show has been on the air again for over 15 years - the interest may just not be there for younger audiences as showrunners have tried to mature the show to maintain viewers initially. There's a variety of factors for why the show has faltered, and while Chibnall is the one currently putting out questionable episodes at time, this problem has been going on for quite a while and more of an indictment of current television in general. Surely RTD will bring a bump in the public interest, much as Chiball did when he first took over. But it will be interesting to see if the numbers eventually settle back down or remain higher under RTD. I suspect they'll be higher, but not significantly.

  35. No, serious. I think, @Sergeant is right. The video is more about doing something together, like a trio for cello, guitar and conductor. But nevertheless, I am with @Jurassic Shark, I would have found it better to just let the two musicians do it on their own.

  37. Haha I saw you hold up your fingers!!! Amazing! That Across the Stars was something else. Wow. also, did they remove someone who walked up in front of the stage and tried to get his attention? Looked like he was escorted out

  38. Nope, that guy was two seats over from me. I definitely wanna try to get a fist bump myself, though! Also, how about that prick trying to get his violin signed during the standing ovation? Walked right up to the front of the stage and called out “Williams!” before security took him away and maybe even kicked him out. Williams did a polite and subtle “no”. Cringe.

  39. I was just coming here to ask if that was you he interacted with like that! Where you the same guy he fist-bumped afterward?

  41. I mean for me personally a remake should have something new to offer, including in the story it tells. I hope there is some changes to KOTOR, or at least extra depth in areas the original didn't focus on. I'd honestly prefer a sequel or a story set another few hundred or thousand years earlier or later if the alternative is just the exact same thing but with modern gameplay and graphics. I don't really see the point in that personally.
