  1. I cannot believe how busy this man is keeping! Almost like he's making up for lost time during the pandemic. We really are so lucky to have him. Hard to believe that, a little over 12 months from now, we might even have two new film scores from him.

  2. Apparently, none of us attended this concert, otherwise this thread would have blown-up about JW's appearance on stage after the concert. Source: Dallas Morning News With violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter, Fabio Luisi led a Dallas Symphony gala with some surprises (ampproject.org) Also from that article: Until then, my suggestion would be to look-in the orchestra's Facebook page for any video clips of that concert.

  4. So what’s everyone’s favorite previously unreleased cue on this release? If I were to just pick one, “ “Battle of Grimball’s Landing”takes the cake for me. But the trio of “Our Time”, “Battle of Grimball’s Landing” and “Promise Me” really flesh out the narrative flow. I’m also a complete sucker for “Worth A Life”. Boy what a moving score. They don’t make ‘em like this anymore. Miss you James!

  5. Nice! Hopefully it's not another minimal score, like that last Doug Liman movie.

  6. I hope they do the whole series in a third person shooter POV.

  11. Good eye. Cool--that man has been busy. Seeing the harp so prominently, I again wonder if Highwood's Ghost is not part of this.

  14. Then The Last Of Us Part II is simply not a game for those people. That’s not valid criticism. The game isn’t supposed to even be fun, from my interpretation. It’s a deep hellish slog through betrayal, anger, and revenge.

  15. Also, dang it! When I opened the thread I thought we were finally getting the Ma/Williams album we deserve, chock full of film music suites for cello. Ma did this with Morricone decades ago, but Williams' film music remains tragically under-recorded on my favorite instrument. Also, Ma already recorded the concerto! Revised or not, don't let Yo-Yo's penchant for yo-yoing back to previously tackled pieces distract you, Maestro! We need "Love Theme from The Terminal for Cello and Orchestra"! Maybe we'll get a couple of bonus arrangements on the back half?

PTA's new movie looks like a return to his old "heart on the sleeve" films of the 90s/early 00s!

  17. Ahh thank you @redishere! That means a lot to us - you picked out some of what we were most excited for too. Some of Ben's personal favorites are Chamber of Secrets and Minority Report, and a big one of mine is AI. I'm so happy we're able to replicate that a little bit Today we've got a short goodie before things start picking up to the end of the film. Here's Cue No. 26: Christmas at the Burrow! MS

  18. His concert works tend in that direction for me. The Bassoon Concerto, even Highwood's Ghost. This piece has always struck me as strangely mysterious.

  21. https://www.instagram.com/p/CTr8lZaAiE4/ I think the link should point to the instagram post @WilliamsStarShip2282 mentioned. This will mark the first commercial recording of Williams leading the NY Philharmonic. Previous to this, only the Theme from Schindler List, as recorded in concert back in 2006 was available on disc.

  24. Pablo Sáinz Villegas, the spanish guitarrist who premiered 10 years ago Rounds, has just revealed in an interview for the spanish newspaper El Pais that he received a letter from John Williams inviting him for a collaboration with Yo Yo Man and him for a new album they are recording with the New York Philharmonic. https://elpais.com/cultura/2021-09-24/pablo-sainz-villegas-me-escribo-con-john-williams-por-correo-postal.html

  26. Yea, the section of the main program in between "Burning The Town Of Darien" and "Brave Words and Deeds" is just terrific! Not having listened to the OST album a lot prior to getting this edition, I didn't go into it knowing offhand which tracks were old and which were new. But when I noticed something really awesome and went to look at what track I was listening to, it was definitely that entire section plus Worth A Life that made me take notice as far as previously unreleased cues go I think the more I listen to "The Battle Of Grimball’s Landing", the more I find it to be exceptionally awesome.

  27. Heartwood. It's musical mist. It's a walk in a forest, after the rain: ethereal, and ever so slightly apprehensive. I love it.

  30. Even in TLJ which I’m not a massive fan of (although don’t hate) I think this is a lazy argument. I don’t think anything happens in TLOU2 that isn’t perfectly set up in TLOU. Joel’s actions and lie at the end of the game have consequences. Those consequences and their repercussions are borne out in the sequel.

  33. I would love for this to be true, though if so, 50 bucks says he has revised it again. Getting this piece right for him is like his white whale.

    John Powell kicks ass

Powell is working on his own opera alongside Gavin Greenaway (who conducted a lot of Zimmer/RCP scores) and Michael Petry (no idea who he is).

  40. I also have the japanese Filmworks CD! I fell in love with Training With George, it is one of my top JW cues of all time. In 2014 I stumbled across the OST for about $US 20. I am extremely excited about this release.
